Thursday 13, the Movie Meme

I wasn't sure what I would do this week for a Thursday Thirteen, then I stumbled on this meme over at Keepin' it Rural. I liked it and thought I'd share my answers with you.

The Movie Meme

1. One movie that made you laugh Parenthood. This is one of the Steve Martin fatherhood movies that I really enjoyed. Father of the Bride was great, but since our daughter was getting married about that time and I was a living "Father of the Bride", I didn't see the humor in it until a couple of years later.
2. One movie that made you cry, Old Yeller. OK, so I'm two days older that water. Get over it. There's gonna be several answers here that you will think are ancient.
3. One movie you loved when you were a child, Lady and The Tramp. I was nine years old when I saw this movie and I have always love animated features. I've gotta kidnap the grandson so I have a reason to go see Kung Fu Panda.
4. One movie you’ve seen more than once The Godfather.
5. One movie you loved, but were embarrassed to admit it, Romeo & Juliet (1968 version). Who knew I would like Shakespeare. My bride to be and I were dating and I thought I'd be a romantic and take her to see it. We saw it in 1973. She cried all the way home. I didn't do that again.
6. One movie you hated, Moulin Rouge. I've tried two or three times to watch this on video and I just can't get through it.
7. One movie that scared you , Jaws.
8. One movie that bored you, The Out of Towners, starring Jack Lemon. I love Jack Lemon but this is the only movie I actually can remember getting up and walking out on.
9. One movie that made you happy, American Graffiti.
10. One movie that made you miserable, Pulp Fiction. I really don't like spending that much time trying to figure out what's going on. It's another movie that I have tried to watch a couple of times on video and finally just gave up on.
11. One movie you weren’t brave enough to see, Platoon. I spent a year in Viet Nam, I didn't need to see this.
12. One movie character you’ve fallen in love with, Boss Spearman, Robert Duvall's character in Open Range. If this movie is on TV when I walk by, it will still stop me in my tracks and I will wind up watching the remainder of the film. This is a classic western, complete with gun fight at the OK corral at the end. I love this film.
13. The last movie you saw, American Gangster with Denzel Washington. Different role for him, but a good movie.

14. The next movie you hope to see, Kung Fu Panda. I told you, I like animated features.
So, what movies would you use as answers to these questions?

Cool list. I haven't seen many of those movies--Lady and the Tramp and American Graffiti are the only ones on your list. I also like animated films, and they rank as some of my faves, Anastasia, Shrek, Ice Age, some of those come to mind. Jack Black is my new favorite comedian, he is hilarious in School of Rock, Nacho Libre, and he was great in the Holiday, too. Since I only watch movies that make me laugh, that would be all of them. I don't "do" sad, adventure, or scary movies. Too many nightmares.

This was fun. Happy TT, and have a great day!

Good list. I took my boys to see King Fu Panda and we all love it.

...but which was better, Godfather or Godfather II? (I'm kinda partial to the second one... but the first was BRILLIANT too!)

Here are my answers to the movie meme:

1. Kingpin with Woody Harrelson and Bill Murray

2. none. However, I came close after watching the Denzel Washington film Remember the Titans.

3. Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory

4. Way too many, lol. One of the films that I have seen more than 50 times is the 1957 version of Twelve Angry Men.

5. Beaches with Bette Midler and Barbara Hershey

6. Pretty Woman. I know that it's blasphemous to some, but PW did nothing for me.

7. Cujo... I am deathly afraid of dogs

8. Out of Africa... snoozeville

9. The French romantic comedy Amelie

10. Lady In the Water. It seems like M. Night felt that he could come up with anything and the public would eat it up.

11 and 12 are question marks

13. The Sea Wolf starring Edward G. Robinson, John Garfield, and Ida Lupino.

14. Get Smart starring Steve Carell and Anne Hathaway

1. 50 First Dates
2. Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey (No matter how many times I've seen it, when the old dog makes it home....)
3. 101 Dalmatians
4. Toy Story (I never get tired of Buzz and Woody)
5. American Pie
6. Castaway (That was good until it ended)
7. Silence of the Lambs
8. Lord of The Rings
9. Phantom of the Opera
10. Ace Ventura
11. The Happening (The plot sounds interesting and if it were a book, I'd read it. But I won't watch it.)
12. Rhett Butler
13. Indiana Jones (The newest one)

14. Kung Fu Panda and Wall-E

I was completely SHOCKED to read that you didn't like the Out of Towners!! This is one of my all-time favorite movies!!

And Pulp Fiction - don't try to figure out what order everything goes in. It really doesn't matter. It's just fun to get inside Quentin Tarantino's odd brain. Lots of blood and lots of cussing, but it's a great movie.

Good meme. Maybe I'll use it on my blog one day. Thanks.

Jaws had me looking at the water with suspicion for a long time, and not just at the ocean. It really got to me.

1. Chances Are - Robert Downey, Jr cracked me up.
2. Beaches still makes me cry buckets.
3. Most definitely The Wizard of Oz - it became a real family night with popcorn and and as many friends as could fit on the floor.
4. Indiana Jones - the first one.
5. Love Story - although I saw it again recently and thought it was kind of dumb.
6. Kill Bill.
7. Jaws - shortly afterward we spent 6 weeks oceanside and I barely got my feet wet. My mom was so mad!
8. Out of Africa
9. Can't think of one just now.
10. Arlington Road
11. Any slasher movie - they just creep me out.
12. Strider of The Lord of the Rings. Or maybe it's just Viggo Mortensen!
13. The new Indiana Jones.

This is a cool meme! I’ve actually seen most (though not all) of these films and could ‘relate’ to your answers. I may do this on my blog one of these days.
Hugs and blessings,

Great list and I would say good answers as well (Many of which I would echo). Thanks for stopping by my TT and hope to see you again as well!
